David was preceded in death by his older brother, Douglas Pratt Reeder, their mother and father. David is survived by his wife Yvonne (ne Miedema), stepdaughter Cassandra (Michael OConnor), stepson Bryan Kramer (Angie), stepson Todd Kramer (Rhonda), son David, and 10 grandchildren. After retirement he and his wife Yvonne spent time in Oregon and Colorado, settling outside of Chicago with family in 2008. He was particularly proud of participating in the development of the still storage data system for the images taken on the very first Saturn satellite "fly by", as well as the initial time-based corrector for the transmission of television signals. He worked for Consolidated Video Systems and Macrovision for the majority of his career until his retirement in 2001, specializing in research & development of video technology. He became active as a sponsor and further supported the Los Gatos and regional AA and Al-Anon programs and the individuals who had need of it. It was there, he sought help through Alcoholics Anonymous, which would become a foundational part of his adult life. After service, David lived in Los Gatos, CA for most of his life, an area which he really loved. David received the following recognitions: National Defense Service Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation Ribbon, Vietnam Service and Medal with Campaign Star. He served as an Aviation Electronic Technician Radar, Petty Officer Third Class on a Lockheed EC-121 Warning Star Willy Victor airplane in Southeast Asia and saw conflict during the Vietnam War. David attended Temple University in PA, then enlisted into the US Navys branch of Naval Air Forces from 1965-1969. His ancestors were of the Penrose, Pratt, Perkins and Mannix families of Pennsylvania and he was extremely proud of his family's strong background in military service. It was this experience with animals which instilled a great love and affection for all animals that endured throughout his lifetime. Dave spent time as a child at his grandparents' farm where he grew up around many animals that belonged to his uncle, Daniel Pratt Mannix IV (author of The Fox and the Hound). Born on Septemin Lower Merion, PA, David was the youngest son of Helen Mannix Reeder of Bryn Mawr, PA and Reuben Arnold Reeder.
